Bollywood did it before Squid Games?

 

Squid Games is a new Korean Netflix series, the series is making its way into hearts worldwide. The plot of the series along with charming cast and amazing direction deserves the recognition it is getting. 

But, netizens of India are claiming that Bollywood did it way before Squid Games.

 

Apparently a bollywood movie, “Luck’ has done it in 2009.

The movie stars, Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan, Javed Sheikh, Shruti Haasan, Danny Denzongpa, Ravi Kishan, Chitrashi Rawat and Rati Agnihotri

 

Before we get into the debate let us look at plot of both stories-

 

Squid Game starts with the story of Gi-Hun who is a poverty stricken man, divorced and living with his mother.

He moves on about his day normally, when he meets a man in the metro and plays a little game for money, he loses and finds an invitation instead. 

 Few days later he realizes that he is in need of money and accepts the invitation, and he wakes up as a player in an unknown land amongst many other people and he was the last one to join- player no 456. 

The games resemble their childhood games but way more deadly. Everytime a player dies, money is added to the winning amount, as a reward. 

 

The first round of the game turns out deadly and players vote to terminate the games, however some days later some of the players agree to play again and the game gets deadlier. In the end after a chaotic ride someone wins the money and the shows end with a promising ending for season 2. 

 

Coming to the plot of “Luck”, Musa Bhai, a very lucky man portrayed by Sanjay Dutt ( You canwatch Sanjay Dutt’s Bollywood movies for free online on the Mzaalo app byXfinite) , is bored with life and decides to go around gathering very lucky people and gamble on them. 

 

He gathers the luckiest people and takes them to cape town and sets up deadly games, just to see who will be the luckiest to survive. He also keeps a winning amount. 

 

The two stories of squid game and luck are quite different but very similar, in your opinion what do you think was better or was Squid Game  copied at all?
