5 must-watch movies of Bhumi Pednekar
Bhumi Pednekar is a relatively new face of Bollywood. She has appeared in many path-breaking movies, sometimes leading, or sometimes in side roles. Did you know Bhumi Pednekar worked as an assistant director at YRF for six years before she got her big break as an actor. She first worked with Abhimanyu Ray, assisting in casting films like Chak De! India, Rocket Singh: Salesman of The Year and Teen Patti.
We love her unique take on some stories and thought of binging her movies this weekend, and a weekend binge is incomplete without a watchlist! So we have made a list of 5 must-watch movies of Bhumi Pednekar.
Dum Laga Ke Haisha
Before Ayushmann Khurrana was being lauded as Bollywood’s poster boy, it was his performance alongside Ms. debutante that rocked us hard.
The story is simple--there are no dance sequences in Switzerland, no fancy costume department, and definitely no cool locations, yet it’s the simplicity of the film that will give you goosebumps. An emotional and funny ride we must say. Also, did you know that Bhumi put on around 30-40kg weight for the role?
‘TOILET: Ek Prem Katha’
Diving into the world of biopics early on in her journey, Bhumi gave us an equally compelling role with this film starring the king of biopics, Akshay Kumar. While the movie reflects a number of harsh societal practices, it’s her acting, the dialogues, and the cinematography that brings the story to life.
3.Shubh Mangal Savdhaan
The movie is a path-breaking story, the story is quite like the olden love stories in the starting.
Bhumi’s role as Gurgaon-bred Sugandha Joshi is as refreshing as it gets. The dilemma she faces is genuine and she acts it so genuinely, close to real-life roles are especially to Bhumi anyways. She embodies this role very authentically and you can easily see that work out in the movie.
You can watch this movie for free online on the Mzaalo app- the best app to watch movies and series for free online.
4.Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare
Although this film has its faults, one cannot deny the effortless, breezy acting done by Bhumi. She plays the role of Kajal, a resident of Bihar who comes to Noida to live out her dreams of ‘becoming someone. Unable to find a job, she begins working as a phone sex chat operator which of course, does not go down well with her sister, Dolly played by Konkona Sen. The film will ultimately remind you of that sisterhood bond that you know is too solid for these social pressures.
5. ‘Saand ki Aankh’
Winning the ‘Critics Choice: Best Actress’ award at Filmfare 2020 for her role in this film, Bhumi really showed Bollywood that you don’t need to be that typical mainstream actress who needed to do certain films to get that recognition. She plays the role of Chandro Tomar, one-half of the infamous Tomar sharpshooters.
