Happy Bhaag Jayegi a hilarious ride

 

Happy Bhaag Jayegi is a 2016 Indian romantic comedy film directed by Mudassar Aziz. The movie stars, Diana Penty as Harpreet Kaur aka Happy, Abhay Deol as Bilal Ahmed, Ali Fazal as Gurdeep Singh aka Guddu, Momal Sheikh as Zoya, Jimmy Sheirgill as Daman Singh Bagga, Lankesh Bhardwaj as Rajinder. 

 

The movie is about Diana Penty Harpreet or Happy, who is supposed to marry Daman Singh Bagga played by Jimmy Shergill in Amritsar. But she planned to elope with her musician boyfriend Guddu (Ali Fazal) the events take a chaotic turn and she somehow ends up in Lahore after she runs away from her wedding. The story is a new face for the runaway bride genre with a twist of the dynamic between India and Pakistan, many unexpected turns too.

Coming back to the movie, the story is not centered around Happy as it might seem, but Bilal Ahmed played by Abhay Deol. Happy meets Bilal in Pakistan who happens to be the son of the ex-governor. A cop is set off against Bilal named Afridi played by Piyush Mishra and they both are on the mission to deport Happy back to her home. But, they all come up with an idea to get Guddu to Pakistan so they could marry Happy and Guddu and send them both back.

Chaos ensues as Bagga gets to know about their plan and he sends his goons to kidnap Happy, later Afridi kidnaps Happy’s father. It turns into a hilarious watch as people keep racing back and forth the border of Pakistan and India. The couple is reunited but Happy’s father is taken for a spy there to hurt the ex-governor Bilal’s father. Later in the story, Bilal organizes the wedding of Guddu and Happy at a mass wedding. Somehow Bagga escapes the prison and sneaks into the venue dressed as a groom. Then the scenes are just a bunch of goons and brides and grooms running around.
