 Anwar ka Ajab Kissa is a 2013 Hindi Dark Comedy, directed by Buddhadev Dasgupta. The movie features, Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Mohammad Anwar, Ananya Chatterjee as Malini (Amol's wife), Pankaj Tripathi as Amol, Niharika Singh as Ayesha, Amrita Chattopadhyay as Nafisa, Makrand Brahme as Dayashankar Joshi (Boss of detective agency), Farrukh Jaffar, Sohini Paul as Sudha, Masood Akhtar as Khalil.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the role of Anwar who is a private detective who works in a small agency named- ‘Inner Eye’ in Kolkata. The story is however centered around the budding detective Anwar. He is not any detective, he is the type who gets a little too involved in cases, Anwar frequently jumps between moralistic and empathetic approaches towards different clients. The man also yearns for his lost love and has deep one-sided long conversations with aging Labrador Lalu.

As a detective, Anwar is supposed to blend in the background but he stands out and everyone’s attention is drawn to him.  The characters he bumps into are meant to be picaresque: an old woman who lives in her head, a man who secretly loves another man, a pretty neighbor who gently stalks him, as Anwar himself passes lonely nights talking to his dog. Out of the blue, a woman accosts him as he finds himself on a deserted hillock. A man (Tripathi) whom Anwar seems to know also appears out of nowhere: does he exist, or is he a figment of the imagination?  This question certainly made the movie interesting for us.
