Let’s talk about the Crime Drama of the week, the story pivots around the activities of Russian Drug Lord Moshe Barak (Tom Alter). Soon after a murder in his gang by the members of another sets off a turf war between both gangs. The drug lord is attacked from every direction as everyone is trying to bring him down.

*Alter passed away shortly after the series was filmed.

The pace of the show is however slow and the plot is not as complex or dark as one would expect it to be, however, the cast would keep you hooked to the screen. Talking about the cast Tom Alter does not radiate the fear or threat as he should have, instead, he imparts lukewarm threats. Mandira Bedi plays the role of Barak’s wife. (Did you know that this series is the debut series of Mandira Bedi). While some actors do justice to their roles,  some characters have done similar roles in other shows like Mishra (corrupt cop), Girish Kulkarni ( Sinister minister).

The show starts with a gloomy opening as the body count of the first episode alone is 5, but things start to brighten up as Gulshan Devaiah’s Jairam Jha or JJ, a hitman from Bihar, enters the fray. The character brings in some levity in the show breaking the gloomy monotony. Jim Sarbh, who plays Barak’s right-hand man Roy, brings out freshness into the show, as a shrewd khabri with a conscience, he offers subtle comic relief and gives you a reason to continue watching if a bit much to take in the plot, fails to do so.  The series has long episodes building around the action-packed finale. However, if you are waiting in your seats too eagerly for some shocks that might not happen as the story moves from one chaos to another. But, the series sends across 2-3 plot twists that will take you by surprise. So do not miss the star-backed series.
